Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen
Yesterday I finished “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall.

Born to Run
The whole book is a giant build to a race in the wilds of the Copper Canyons in Mexico with the Tarahumara. The Tarahumara are a lost tribe of super runners, that run the trails in harsh badlands. Through out the book McDougall makes the case of how running is natural and we were born to run. The book covers ultra runners (50-150 mile races) and many of their races. He looks at running shoes and their impact on runners(running hurt runner). He also covers anthropology, diet, physiology as they of course they relate to running. The main message, we were born to run and if you far enough and long enough you will be happy.
Loved the book—believe me I was surprised.
Christopher McDougall

Humans are really underrated runners. We have become quite out of shape a lot of us. It is believed that humans used to hunt down their game in ancient times by outrunning it not with speed or tools, but endurance. Our ancestors would run and track the animal over miles until it simply ran itself out.
He talks about that in the book—also how our brain works to save reserve energy, making us lazy.
