1984 (1956)

1984 was made in 1956, when George Orwell’s vision of a totalitarian future society in 1984 was still a possibility.

1984 (1956)

Big Brother is watching you all the time and has very strict rules on how you live.  Winston Smith (played by Edmond O’Brien), starts thinking for his self, this leads to a forbidden love affair and disaster for all.

This film, after more than 50 years, is still relevant, it brings home the fact that dangers to our freedom are always lurking just around the corner.

My favorite line, “If you keep the big rules it’s safe to break the little ones.”

The black and white, works well is setting the stage for a totalitarian society.

07/10 Some things never change, like our fear of the goverment running our lives.
