Troy (2004)
The battle and story here lends itself for a great movie to be made. Unfortunately, this movie somewhat misses the mark. I liked the movie enough, I just feel like it could have been so much more. In between the action, when we should be growing with our characters, there was just a lot of weak and dull scenes. We never have the ability to feel emotionally invested with any of the characters or the plotline. The script was pretty bad as well. It is really over dramatic as seen in some pretty rough lines from Brad Pitt. The casting was pretty spot on. Bloom as Paris, as much as I can’t stand him usually, was a good pick. I did not care if any of them died or lived other than Agamemnon, who was quite vile, and Hector, our standard family man. My summary is basically as straight forward as the movie. Good action, good story, weak script, okay acting, a little too much lame.
“At night I see their faces. All the men I’ve killed. They’re standing there on the far bank of the river Styx. They’re waiting for me. They say, ‘Welcome, brother’.”
