My Life (1993)
My Life stars Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman. It was directed by Bruce Joel Rubin.
This movie was okay. It was a little too cheesy, but it had good parts to it. The movie has some big emotions to tackle as our protag is dying of terminal cancer while he is expecting his first child. He has the idea to create a video for his child. Through this creation he realizes that he has focused too much on the aspects of life that are not important such as money or status. I have always thought it would be interesting to create a video to mark your existence. We could know our ancestors by their videos. The movie wants us to appreciate life and the moments we have. Overall, I admire the message, but the movie just isn’t that great. It almost has the feel of a Lifetime or Hallmark Channel flick. Very sappy.
“Dying’s a really hard way to learn about life.”
