The Basketball Diaries is based on the true story of artist Jim Carroll.  It was directed by Scott Kalvert and stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

This movie is interesting because it based on a true story.  It is a decent movie, but did not quite do it for me.  There are better coming of age movies, there are better drug addiction movies, and there are better basketball movies.  It gets lost in the mix and is just okay.  Leonardo has a great performance but the movie just lacks bite.

“All I’ve been doin’ is reading this diary wonderin’ how I’m still alive.”
